Valentina recently graduated from Virginia Tech with a B.S. in Biology. She joined the Hopkins lab as a volunteer research technician in the spring of 2011. While working with Amanda Wilson on her post-baccalaureate research on maternal effects in wood ducks, Valentina learned animal husbandry techniques and data management. Valentina later worked with freshwater turtles as a research assistant on the Kingston Coal Ash Project. She assisted with data collection, data management, and turtle husbandry.
In the Hopkins Lab, Valentina participated in the FLeDGE undergraduate research program with PhD mentor, Cathy Jachowski. Her work focused on the behavior and physiology of the Eastern Hellbender. Valentina’s broader interests include environmental toxicology and endocrinology and she plans to pursue graduate school in the future.
